I’ve been trying to keep my toddlers occupied today. Little Kruise found his big sister’s purse with some coins in it. That gave me the idea of printing out some play money for the boys so they could play Shop.
I thought it would be quite a simple thing to google and find, but there was so much spammmy rubbish in the top results. (Do people really look up how to create counterfeit cash online?).
So, in case you want some funny money for the kiddies, here’s a good link:

Oh yeah I’d imagine a lot of people want to create counterfeit cash. They make copy machines so high quality now that they have to program them with the ability to not copy money. Take a high quality office copier and copy a US $20 bill and you’ll see some weird results. Usually if it detects the bill it will leave empty stripes in the copy.
This play money idea is a great idea. I imagine you could use it lots of ways. Teaching kids to budget and about money. Rewards for chores that they can spend elsewhere. All with fake money that has no danger of being lost in the toy box.

I keep forgetting that US money really is paper money. Australia has had plastic money since I was a kid. (And yes, it survives accidentally going through the washing machine.) Counterfeiting money here would be extremely difficult.
The boys enjoyed paying each other for the toys and food I put on the table for their Shop, yesterday. Today, half the money is ripped in half and/or scrunched up on the floor, but I can print more.
I’m actually planning on paying Athena for her chores in play money, which she can exchange for real money once she has a certain amount saved up.
