The Mayan Prophecy begins…

Are you building your products and marketing materials to be scalable and long-lasting?

When you create a product or write content for a brochure or your website, do you stop and consider how quickly it can become outdated? Check your copyright year in your website’s footer – is it for this year? Keep in mind it will be 2013 in less than a month.

Did you make sure your website was built at least ‘one size bigger’ than you needed at first, to allow for room to grow? Remember how your parents always bought your school shoes with ample room to grow during the year? There’s a business lesson in that.

Don’t be like the ancient Mayan and run out of space – or you may really end up facing an end-of-the-world problem when you outgrow your website too soon, or have 1,000 outdated business cards you can’t use.

Picasso on valuing your skills

Just a little scribble?

Pablo Picasso was sitting at a cafe table in Paris when an American matron recognized him and came over. She complimented him on his artistry and asked if he could just dash off a little sketch for her – she would be willing to pay whatever. He drew something on his napkin and handed it to her. “That will be 5000 francs, madame.” But why so much? It only took you 5 minutes.”

Picasso looked up. “No, madame, it took me my whole life.”
